40 years married, Sue reveals her top tip for a happy life.

My name is Sue and I’ve just celebrated my 64th birthday 🎂

My top tip for a happy life is exercise! I am lucky to have a love of exercise, skipping, team sports, walking, cycling, you name it, I love it.

Here’s a little bit about me. I’m most well known as @sixtyandme on Instagram (I have 11k followers!) for my skipping sessions.

I love motivating others and I’m a big advocate of trying to encourage everyone to do a little exercise to maintain bone strength, ward off osteoporosis and keep a happy, healthy mind.

There are huge benefits of skipping (or jump rope) - it is one of the cheapest and most effective fat burning workouts you can do.

Skipping is a full body workout which uses your abs to stabilise the body, legs for jumping, and shoulders and arms for turning the rope. Don’t under-estimate how hard it is 😱

Benefits of Skipping

  1. Skipping helps shed fat from all parts of your body and tones you up.
  2. Skipping is a great form of cardio exercise. It increases the heart rate pushing the heart muscles to work harder thereby promoting heart health.
  3. Skipping can help improve coordination, strength, endurance and balance.

Start with 1 minute a day with the aim of building up to 5 minutes non-stop. Blast some music and sweat it out 🥵

Here are me and my friends showing off our tricks! We have a giggle at the same time its great fun. Its hard when you first start, but fun mastering new moves. And a good laugh is good for the mind too.

Here’s another few interesting facts about me-

I was in the RAF for 12 years which is where my love of exercise really developed. I learnt how to deep sea dive, ski, played Netball for the Station and started running. SO many new experiences. I also met my husband, Steve ❤️.

We love walking holidays and spending time doing physical activities together.  We recently completed the Pennine Way, a total of 270 miles starting in the Peak District and ending in Scotland.

Because I’m so busy I like to keep my skincare and makeup routine simple.

Less is definitely more for me. The multitasker is perfect to slather on before my morning exercises and at night before bed. I’ve recently taken up cycling and last year I did what I thought was the impossible! Rode 100 miles! For me it was a huge achievement and reaching this goal felt amazing!🏅
