It happens to all of us at some stage in our lives.
That feeling, of….what’s next?
When a chapter in our lives closes, another inevitably opens. It's not always obvious though and sometimes we are unsure, even scared of what the future may bring.
Meet Tracy
Tracy was a cancer nurse for many years.
Like so many, her identity was tied to her job.
When she retired and moved back to Cornwall, a vacuum appeared in her life along with an uncomfortable feeling that she would never fill it.
It’s a feeling many of us will have at some point in our lives, as we transition from one phase to the next.
Tracy is the perfect example of someone who met that challenge head on, forging a successful second career.
We find her story and attitude so inspiring, we wanted to share it with you.
Finding your purpose
It would have been easy for Tracy to slip into a comfortable routine of “filling the days” in retirement but she had too much energy for that.
When COVID hit, after much self reflection, she found that after a lifetime of mentoring and supporting women, she wanted to continue this important work.
Easier said than done
Tracy faced her own struggles in getting started on her new path.
After enjoying a vibrant and busy workplace she battled with the loneliness and isolation of working from home.
To embark on a new journey, she would have to change her own outlook before she could focus on anyone else.
I changed my mindset (lack) from being all about what I was missing & what I DIDNT have & instead stepped outside my comfort zone to all the opportunities & new beginnings I may have in front of me.
She set up her blog Wellbeing Wisdom Club to help other women with issues around Health, HRT and menopause, the importance of friendship & being kind to yourself & how it’s never too late to make a change in your life.
Tracy says "After working with cancer patients for all of my adult life I’ve learnt a thing or two about when humans experience difficult times".
Soon, Tracy found she had an active and engaged audience of women who bought into her positive and upbeat attitude to life.
It’s easy to see why.
When you read her Instagram posts, she exudes a healthy dose of positivity in a world of bad news and dark outlooks.
Connection, Community & Friendship
Her advice isn’t some quick fix, new fangled fad that you have never heard before. At its heart, it is about consistency.
Exercise is one of her core beliefs. It can be as simple as 10 minute brisk walk a day.
Pushing your comfort zone is another. Which is why Tracy has taken up cold water swimming. In the sea. In winter!
Tracy took the initiative to change direction and now makes a living out of helping other women, but it’s clear that she also learns a lot from the amazing women she meets through her work.
By doing what she loves, it has attracted like minded people who share the same outlook and passion as she does, leading to a richer and more meaningful life.
Check out Wellbeing Wisdom Club & her Instagram page, hopefully you will find it as uplifting as we have.
We just don’t know where life is going to take us. It’s never too late to rewrite your story. There’s always a possibility around every corner & so if you’re feeling stuck & unsure right now...then perhaps this can help you believe in the possibility of new beginnings
